How do I find stocks in-play using StockFilters?
StockFilters was built specifically to help active traders identify stocks in-play quickly and precisely. Using Lance’s pre-built filters alongside live market data, you can scan the entire market in seconds and surface the exact setups you are looking for — without manual searching.
What are Lance's Filters and can I edit them?
Lance’s Filters are a curated set of stock filters he built and used throughout his professional trading career, each designed to cut through noise and surface the best day trading opportunities. Each filter includes a short description of what it does and when to use it. You cannot edit Lance’s Filters directly, but you can layer your own Global Filter on top of them to combine his criteria with your own preferences.
Can I build my own custom filters?
Yes. StockFilters is built around the ability to create fully customizable filters using a SQL-style syntax. The New Filter page is where you write your own queries, chain conditions using AND and OR statements, run them against fresh market data, and save them to your personal library. The built-in StockFilters AI assistant can also help you write, debug, and refine filters in plain language, making it one of the most accessible automated trading system software tools available for retail traders.
What is the Global Filter?
The Global Filter is an optional layer that applies to every query you run, including Lance’s Filters. It is useful for removing false positives, such as filtering out penny stocks by setting minimum price or volume thresholds. You can enable or disable it at any time from the New Filter page.
How does the StockFilters AI work?
The StockFilters AI is a built-in chat assistant trained on all the functions and indicators available in the platform. You can describe what you are looking for in plain language and it will write the filter code for you, help debug queries that are not working, or answer questions about specific indicators. Think of it as an AI trading tool that bridges the gap between your ideas and the filter logic needed to act on them.
How do I organize my filters?
All your filters live in the Library panel on the left side of the screen. By default, filters you save go into the My Filters folder. You can create new folders, move filters between them, and organize Lance’s Filters alongside your own. You can also hide filters you do not use and restore them at any time from Settings.
Will new features and indicators be added over time?
Yes. The StockFilters team continuously improves the platform and adds new indicators based on user feedback. If there is a specific indicator you would like to see, you can request it through the Tech Suggestions channel. New features and documentation updates are released on an ongoing basis.
